Can anyone shed any light on what this might be? Definitely not an Allin as originally thought. Frame numbers consistent with early 60s Harry Quinn but no Q next to them, unless that's what the stamp on the left of the bb shell is meant to be...

Would really like to find out so I can get the right decals for it.

    Cheers.

  • Have you asked the obvious people? Such as Hilary Stone, Mario Vaz, any of the VCL/VCC tribes, The retrobike forum, the ctc forum ... ummm you know people who actually know their stuff... I know there are a few people on here who know things, but try them too.

If you get nowhere, if I were you I would just choose the decals you like the best and slap those on it.

    Nice frame.

  • Have asked Hilary who said not an Allin and that they are Clements-made dropouts, but that Clements made them for a number of different builders. Will follow up those leads - cheers. Going to get Mario to do the respray as he's just round the corner from me. Maybe he's a good place to start.

  • not worth starting a new thread, so i thought i would hijack this one.

my girlfriend monika saw this and liked the look of it. anyone know what this is??

  • Bus.

  • Bus?! Can people not be serious on this forum? Ever? Really? Fuck.

  • Langster

  • I don't know, the frame seems to me to be 'all in'--frame, forks, dropouts, bottle cage bosses, cable routing loops, it's all there.

  • Soon to be stolen, by the looks of that lock...

  • By a blind thief.

  • By a blind thief.

i know... i thought it was fugly too... but each to their own, i suppose.

  • timmy like skully says try the retrobike forum.

They should have an answer for you.

Cheers, I posted on that forum yesterday but nothing forthcoming. I am a bit impatient as I want to get it sprayed and built up asap.

Anyone with a Harry Quinn - can you have a look at your bottom bracket shell and see if it looks anything like mine underneath? Does it have a letter Q next to the numbers?

  • The Q on a Harry Quinn is right before the number - not miles away. It is made out of a zero and a one stamped over each other. You should also find the same number stamped the same way into the fork steerer tube.

They also often (always?) cut open the BB shells in some way to remove weight. This is mine.

  • @Timmy
    ClassicRendevous is also pretty useful.
There's a framebuilder on there called Norris Lockley who's really helpful.
You should have your answer in a few days.
And as BlueQuinn says check the fork steerer tube - the frame number can often be a lot clearer there.

  • @BlueQuinn - cheers for taking the time to do the pic, mate. Pretty sure now mine's not a Quinn - frame numbers in a different font, no Q near by (more like an O off to one side).

@nankatsu - cheers, will try there too. I'm going to strip the headset and bb out tomorrow ready for a trip to Vaz next week so will check the steerer tube.
