Hey-Oh!
Been hunching over my bike quivering in the corner watching the "bigger boys" play in the park...mainly reading Mechanics for tips. About to start building a fixie so I'm assuming I'm going to be on the forum more.
Thought I'd waddle over and start speaking rather then watching, mouth shut, hood up.
It's good to be here.
Stay Free.

Hello, Long time lurker, living in Brighton (clue in the name?), used to ride a 1930s Royal Enfield SS. Just bought a Charge Plug on ride2work and loving it, tried to build my own fixed but could never find a decent 2nd hand frame my size (very small). Got the bug now so flat is soon to be rammed with bike bits and bobs. Take it easy everyone!

afternoon all...
Just converted an old Trek racing bike to a SS for my first taste of SS fun, so thought I'd sign up here after wetting myself at much of the humour handed out in various threads...
Already fallen in love with a 2010 Charge Plug Racer, despite not living in a city, having a shed full of other bikes already and probably having zero chance of getting up the hills round here on it. Perfect then!

Hello everyone, names louis, a year or so ago i got pissed of with brake pads wearing out, the cost of drivechain parts and the effort required maintaining my pinarello road bike when used on a daily basis, I'd happened across sheldon brown's website and fell in love with the concept of riding fixed... then a genesis flyer came up for sale on gumtree near by and i made an impulse buy... aside from getting used to going over speed bumps i absolutely love the fixie ride and am still upgrading the genesis on a weekly basis till the point where only the frame, forks, headset, stem, crank arms and bb are original... i've added a little picture of it for you all to take the mic out of - i know the pedals are flats but i can lock up and skid with ease and ever since a particularly nasty over-the-bars session in the summer i've lost faith in clip-ins for a while...

Hiho,
Thought I'd introduce myself after lurking for a few months now and having posted a couple of times too. Just finished my first fixed build this weekend and am rather proud of how it's turned out considering it's the first thing I've ever built completely from scratch (have been riding an OTP road bike so far which I still adore) and have been enjoying the pleasures of having a fixed bike for the first time. Planning to be a bit more active now that I actually have a reason to participate in some of the discussions. Anyway, pleased to meet, or what have you.

Hey, Maans signing in. Riding an old FG conversion with 35mm tires atm, kind of retro pathracer style to it, mustache bars etc. while building up a new bike for the summer. Rather new to fixed, but liking it a lot already.

Hi all, what a great website, I had to join.
Started racing, fixed wheel of course at Herne Hill stadium back in 1970. Did that for
a good few years untill I got married and had kids. Kids have now grown up and fled the
nest a while back. A lot of years have passed (more than 30) when I decided to get back
into it. Ride to work somedays and must build a fixie real soon. -

welcome, but i do hope you're running at least a front brake if fixed, front and rear if freewheel?

Thanks and yes...got front and rear brakes :-) usually ride freewheel.....tried the fixie a number of times and I prefer it but it's a bit tricky on the downhill into Lewisham..probably need more practice ;-)

Hey all. My name is Mitch, and I live in Portland Oregon. I am thinking about moving around London sometime in the near future. I am just curious about what the forum is like.
Here is my bike and my self.

How could I forget to add a bit about my self-
I love house music, have been riding track bikes about 2 years and other bikes basically my whole life. I love the snow, coffee, group rides, going up hill, downhill, and every where in-between. -
• #2494
Don't do it, Mitch. Stay in Portland, it's better. London is full of wankers :p
Want to swap citizenships?

Wazzap guys,
I'm Steve, I'm 15 and I'm looking at getting a fixed for the road. Already ride the track, so I'm fairly competant, just I have £3000 of debt from buying carbon bling to pay off before I can spend money on a fixed, although its christmas soon, so I shal re-assess funds after that :)
Peace out!

Buy the bike...then spend all year paying it off.....good plan

Hey,
Joined a little while ago and figured I should say hello. Currently riding a rubbish hybrid but want to get into the whole fixed-gear thing and figured I'd come on here to find out more about it first. Apologies in advance for the obvious questions I'll no doubt be asking.
