Everyone's going to forget to look once in a while. I reckon me plus bike plus locks plus rucksack comes in at about 300lbs. Hitting a ped at 20mph is going to flatten them. If they hit the tarmac awkwardly, it could be really messy. So I'm happy to watch out for the muppets rather than kill someone.
It's like RLJ at ped crossings - if there's nobody there, help yourself to an empty piece of road, I don't care. But if people are crossing don't RLJ then because it's dangerous. And sooner or later, someone will get hurt. Peds are starting to take aim at cyclists who do it. I don't blame them.
