High viz or cool?

when I'm driving at night, the amount of lighting from streetlamps and other vehicles is so confusing to the eye, it's worse than an unlit area. believe me, if you are riding at night without lights, motorists really cannot see you. Besides that, what about some common fucking courtesy?

Its darker than the darkside of the moon here. I even use a Hi-Viz vest for jogging, and most peds have reflectors dangling from their coats. This just makes it easier to miss the odd ninja cyclist though.

I've now hit two this winter already. Luckily one while I was jogging and the other while on my bike (well he hit me, but I did'nt notice him to avoid him).
