Thanks anyway - and I'm never sure on bike gender
1958 Holdsworth Cyclone road / path + spare wheelset + extras
I'm having a clearout and have decided to sell my Holdsworth. I brought her to ride at Herne Hill, but I've acquired a newer track bike now and can't really justify keeping two (also a bike this nice needs to be ridden...)
I brought her from a member of the VCC and it's in very sound mechanical condition, the paintworks is on the whole good, but it has been worn on both sides of the top of the forks (which you can see in one of the pics) and there is also the odd chip here and there, but nothing too major.
I overhauled the bottom bracket (replaced the bearings and polished the spindle), I also had a Shimano headset fitted (I just wanted to get it running and the headset it came with appeared to be made of plastic). I have been meaning to replace this and have gathered pretty much all the parts for a Brampton headset (which would be period correct), the only thing I don't have is the Brampton top-nut. Anyway these parts will be included with the bike, along with a generic top-nut and the new owner can fit it or not.
The bike is currently fitted with a set of 27" Bayliss Wiley clinchers that I brought off Hilary through the forum, the rear has a flip-flop hub so you can ride it fixed or free. The tyres will need replacing I guess if you want to ride it day-to-day, but easy enough to find some Continental 27-inches or similar (also you can fit 700 wheels which is what I did when I rode it at Herne Hill).
Also included with the bike is a sprint (tub) wheelset which comes with Holdsworthy / Campagnolo wheel covers. The tub on the front wheel has burst, but I will include a little-worn Wolber Renforce as a replacement. The sprints aren't a matched pair - the font is an Airlite hub with a Fiamme rim (which I polished up) and the rear is a Sturmey Archer hub with a no-name rim (which I didn't polish!)
I'll also include a spare 46-tooth Chater Lea chainring with the rest.
Ok here are the details:
• 23" Holdsworth frame and forks: seat tube = 23" / 58cm ctt, top tube = 23" / 58cm ctc; built from Reynolds 531tubing with road path ends (so you can fit mudguards if you want to), drilled for a brake front and rear. 110mm rear spacing and built for 27" wheels. The serial number dates the frame and forks to 1958.
• GB Maes Bars and Milremo stem
• Brooks B17 Narrow saddle (pretty much new), Campagnolo seatpost
• Chater Lea track crankset, fitted with 48t chainring (spare 46 tooth chainring also included)
• GB Synchron brake calipers and Gran Compe lever
• Lyotard pedals, with Christophe toe-clips and a new pair of Christophe straps.
All this could be yours for £400
I would really prefer collection from me directly in Kennington. I don't really want the hassle of packing it all up, but I suppose my arm could be twisted if someone from out of town really wants her.
Let me know if you want other measurements / photos etc
