  • The idea originated today in a conversation with with Gabes and Em: The Brick Lane Vintage Polo Classic.

    • played at brick lane on a sunday
    • starts at 3pm
    • no cones, we use the wide goals
    • balls are the huge and heavy old white ones
    • track bikes only
    • track gearing mandatory (52x16 ideal)
    • no brakes
    • mallets have to be either golf clubs unmodified, or broom handles with a big chunk of wood at the end, or hockey sticks unmodified
    • no helmets or protective gear (including gloves) allowed
    • extra points for playing with Arrospok or drop bars
    • next to no rules (mallet throwing allowed, etc etc..)
    • no timed games

    reference shots:

  • That's a terrible idea.

  • aidan you were there on that first day - remember? I'm sure you have some unpublished shots too - cmon get the Fort out again

  • Ha! I was riding Claud back then...

  • Fuck yes!

  • yorgo but we used to start 1-ish at brick lane. By 2 we were already a few bagels/beers down.

  • Yorgo, yearning for the old days when everyone wasn't better at Polo than you.

  • haa!

  • Those are oldschool days.
Looks like it was a lot of fun.

    I'm midschool.
    I was born at Downham.

  • i was conceived at brick lane, born in peckham, had my adolescence at vauxhall and came of age at newington.

  • i should be there, but just sitting at the side, drinking!

  • count me in, i can recreate how bad at polo i am and how few games i actually played, easy!
    dragon stout here we come

  • I'm in. I'll play on my old Holdsworth if Dale will give it back to me for the day, after painting my nails on the sideline. Surely this needs to be in summer though.

....and you need to get Rob back. No Rob, No Brick Lane.

  • and he has to play with a golf club…

  • oh shit, that's Flo! 2 guys in a row I totally miss!

  • haha the spokes

  • dragon stout here we come

+1000. Dragon stout, and those evil red potato indian snacks from brick lane. In for sure. I still have my mop handle mallet somewhere too..

  • Great idea. I will come along, ask to take some pics and you can all try to ignore me for two hours before Ray reluctantly agrees to go first. Happy memories

  • Rob, Rakan, Stef and Julian have to be there
Smear and Nhatt hanging out drinking beer on the side

  • Those are oldschool days.
