Hello Audiophiles, don't suppose anyone has an old spare amp kicking about? Mines bit the dust...
After something silver and old, and fairly cheap, kinda the pub bike of amps.check ebay for NAD's, won't be silver but you'd be hard pushed to find a better amp for the money

I've been thinking for ages that the faceplates of car CD players look realllly shit!
Can anyone prove me wrong and show me something with minimal buttons/LEDs/useless features?(i don't drive, just out of interest)
Could be a good gap in the market for anyone with the know-how to make one

Dunno about clean looking faceplates but how about 10,000W amps?
http://gizmodo.com/320811/kicker-warhorse-10000+watt-car-stereo-amp-ensures-complete-neighbor-alienation"it requires eight 12-volt batteries to get the thing going, and you'll also need two 200-amp alternators."

For those of you that do not visit the classifieds and may be interested in some Sennheiser HD580 Precision headphones then see here:

anyone in here have some technics sl1210's going for small change, the bright times need some decks so we don't have to use inferior equipment on our musical travels.
looking at some on the bay, and missed out on wools' friends so am putting out the feelers here, as hopefully someone on here's bound to be wanting rid of some.
Not the most audiophile of requests, but we're keeping the vinyl alive people, your help is gratefully accepted.
pm's to me please..many thanks

The cheapest place I have found is Cash Converters in Angel. Got mine sans lids for £260 a pair.

thats quite a good price, i managed to get a really old 1210 on ebay for 120-140, and that was after a lot of looking and last minute bidding

Just found out about this. Looks like possibly the ultimate mp3 player type device. I'm liking the fact that it looks like a brick and has no video etc. $600 though.

^^^ i love it
i love the fact that it looks like a brick and doesnt want to look like an ipod clone. it reminds me of my so trusted early creative zen mp3 player
i had the 60gb version a few years ago but stepped on it then found the 30gb version at a market for 5 pounds.
i assume these new monsters do not come cheap. -

yeah, looks like there's some special order arrangement via Head Fi or something. And it's upwards of $650, so no realistic chance of getting one any time soon. Still, I like that someone has actually gone ahead and built something purely for sound quality, and hopefully the idea will trickle down to sony, cowon, creative etc in a few years. I'll probably be sticking to the sony nW hd5

i wonder if the likes of creative and sony would be interested in jumping into what is probably a very niche market

my cartridge needs to be replaced.
can you recommend a good value for money cartridge?
i don't know much about tis stuff and couldn't be bothered to be sucked into some audiophile forum with all the bickering and flame wars these guys tend to like.i'm after something with a good detailed sound, and though a try to be careful, it also needs to be able to take some abuse.
if it makes a difference the setup is: infinity 3way speakers, jvc ja-s71 amp and a gemini itt.
thanks
