  • there are also favourite Sunday albums, coffee, fresh orange juice, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and something like Velvet Underground or Miles Davis, some kind of blue

  • you bored in dat hotel j? ;-)
just tell me which is THE mix to listen to there on the S.E., and well done for digging it up.
to all contributors- does genuinely surprise me how much taste people display on here-nice to see.but maybe that’s just reflecting my tastes.....
to OP-have been running around all over today- and been singing John Martyn all the way-cheers for that!
BOC - just cant get over the deliciousness of their creativity at the mo. ultimate win.

  • I just got the worse Chinese buffet EVER. Not happy. Yeah, bored and 'gone to ground, I'm watching porn in my hotel dressing gown'

    Which merinds me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INn1C6ImJKg

    Could have picked many http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHIV3LySycw

J, Space Therapy and Karma Sutra mixes are the main ones.

  • Great video, great music, thanks for reminding me who the tunes were by!

everything he/they (it's now all mainly done by one guy) is just fantastic, especially that song/all that album

  • Students! Pffffff

Ha! Yeah. Although I was a student once and the Ultramarine album was the soundtrack to many comedowns. The album is Every Man and Woman is a Star. 2 standout tracks. Now go smoke a spliff you hippies - and get a job :

    YouTube- Ultramarine - Stella

    YouTube- Ultramarine -British summertime

  • YouTube- Bill Laswell - Beyond The Zero

This is working very nicely at present...

  • Followed by a bit of this:

    YouTube- Popol Vuh - Ah!

  • shou8ld be in here really

    YouTube- Bonobo - Flutter

  • wow... i'm sifting through this thread now and discovering some really nice tunes...

i'm up to Steve Reich - 18 musicians, which is very nice btw.

im so rude, i should at least say thanks to you all.

  • Has anyone suggested Happy Cycling by Boards of Canada?

  • ^funny that.listened to that last night.

  • Nice one Goodhead!

Buckley Senior covers both ends of chill and out there with the wonderful "Starsailor" being the latter.
"Buzzing Fly" is one of my favourites - such a lovely lyric too.
    A deserved icon for sure.

  • unhalfbricking at the moment

  • Can't post YouTube links (blocked at work) but I fully recommend the following albums:

Dirty Three - Ocean Songs. Utterly minimal and atmospheric, vaguely post-rock, loosely structured pieces, but with a violin leading the melodies and only a guitar and drums for accompaniment. Doesn't suffer from the overproduction that a lot of postrock stuff does. Ocean Songs basically got me through living in a flat with no heating and no money for three months.

Liz Durrett - Mezzanine. Liz Durrett has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, breathier than Cat Powers, more fluttering than Elizabeth Fraser, lyrics perfectly poised - melancholy but evocative enough to make it much more than an exercise in sadness.

    Some more

Bonnie Prince Billy - Death To Everyone. Might be a bit too depressing for some, but the gentleness of the anger and sadness here wins me over every time. Slightly roots/folky but with the kind of lyrics you'd find in an articulate teenagers poetry book. There's something disarmingly honest about this album.

    And teh following artists:

Max von Richter (composer who uses ambient synths and strings to great effect)

Robin Guthrie (one of Cocteau Twins, makes very minimal progressive guitar ambience)

Bon Iver (singer-songwriter who records his stuff straight to tape and layers voice after voice after voice. very beautiful)

Alela Diane (singer songwriter, clean production, great lyrics, awesome voice, sings about pirates)

Please, dont disrespect the memory of Marleys Music by firstly spelling his name wrong,
    and,
    worse,
listing him with the fucking wank wallpaper Jack Johnson
