hey,
after lurking on here for ages and reading the sheldon website inside out i've decided its time to put the trusty bmx to one side and start a build for getting to and from work as well as faffing about over the weekend.
i've managed to talk my mtb riding mate in to giving me a hand. tempting him with the lure of free beer. i'm hoping to make this bike as cheap as possible so i was hoping if anyone on here from belfast has any parts, frames, bit and bobs to sell they can give me a shout and i'll give them a good homecheers

try the dublinfgss site, i think there's a couple of belfast heads on that.
maybe ask velocio for a belfast sub forum here? from acorns and all that...

My cousin tends to have quite a few bits and bobs hanging around the place, get in touch with him and see if he's got anything you need.

I've got an old (late 80s) peugeot frame 60 cm ctc seat tube, 58cm ctc top tube you can have if you want. It would need to be repainted and the headset, bb and seatpost are all gonna be difficult to remove. it is free though. drop me a PM if you would like to give it a good home.

Lovely to see other people into this kind of thing in Belfast.
just debating whether to take my time and build up a more expensive frame or just pick up something cheap and work away from there...
been checking gumtree so far.
-
• #72
I spent forever checking gumtree and annoying people on here for parts etc but finally I have a bike that can be used
I already see myself spending more time and money on it to get it exactly how I want it
it's been great working on it so far. Beats buying an otp
-
• #73
Time to stop lurking.
Same story here, spent more than if I'd just gone a bought otp. Learnt a few things whilst building up the bike though. Will post in current projects thread for some abuse later.

I've seen a load of people from in belfast on fixed these days. There's an older fella that I see on lisburn road/near andersons town road often, on a green one, not sure of make or anything though.
And I seen a charge plug and another in the university area very often before Uni finished.
I havent been riding mine much since I crashed into a massive barrier in the ashby when I was a little more than tipsy. Didnt even see the thing, luckily it cushioned my fall as I landed on it but I bent my forks and havent got around to fitting the other set/painting the other set yet... It feels os weird riding it with a bent fork, crab stylie yo!
I might be able to make it to some of the wednesday nights now that I dont work evenings if they still happen?

There seems to be one or two belfast people popping up on here. I say we start a thread/ask kindly for a link were we can keep in touch, organise rides etc. Who's with me?
