from what I have read, someone who mows over a cyclist banging on a window trying to alert them, and later throws the bike away and continues his day as normal, without even stopping for a second to check on the person they have just run over, is not only a cold-blooded killer, but a potential maniac and should most certainly be locked up for life, or at the very very least be stuck in a psychiatric unit, and banned from driving for life.
The complete lack of remorse just turned my blood cold. Having read other court transcripts, the usual response of the driver that I have encountered, guilty or otherwise, is one of deep distress, shame, sorrow and regret........
The fact that the judge seems to acknowledge the lack of remorse and terrifying attitude of the defendant, yet still gave such a lenient sentence, is utterly baffling.
I understand that there were no witnesses to account for what the cyclist did before he got in front of the lorry, and even if he was doing wheelies and pedalling backwards blind-folded, surely the events that followed should have been enough to get this guy on a manslaugher charge.
I'm horrified. What action can this family take to appeal, if any?
