No idea about Scatto I'm afraid, but check out Isla Bikes if you haven't already.

Thank you for the advice.
I have been really tempted by the Isla bike and their price is very good.
We know someone who has another bike in their range and has been very pleased with it.
*The SCATTO bike really appeals to me (maybe this is the problem) and looks like a Tour de France bike. * -

Islabike get a lot of praise. Well proportioned for kids and a good combination of light/functional but reasonably priced components. Which ultimately.... makes them fun to ride!

I think Father Christmas may have to make a decision pretty quick so the elf's can get one ready in time !

what the hell is a tour de france bike

OK what I meant is that it is a scaled down road race bike as opposed to a conventional childrens bike. Better for you ?

If you look at the catalouge you can really see what he means by "tour de france bike"
Frames are covered in sporty looking labels, plus the componentry looks way more tech - they have hollowtech cranks and stuff.

blimey, they do look rather impressive, I can't help but feel it's too much money for a bike that the kid going to grow out of soon.

I would would never give a kid a bike with gears personally, not unless they were already experienced in cycling, understood any potential benefits and actually requested a bike with them.
I think most kids (even big kids) thrive on a very simple, agile & efficient bike. Why so much of us enjoyed BMX's as kids and why singlespeed/fixed bikes is causing so many people to fall in love with bikes.
Ive said this on every "kids bike/isla bike" thread already, but if you have the time I think itd be much much better to build your kid a bike out of an old recycled frame but with a few new parts like wheels & drivetrain. It's be way more personal, you could put something really nice together pretty easily. Even if you want gears on it.

I've just notice that some of their bike, like their 700c track bike are perfect for those who are under 5'3.

Nice that they made something like that available, but that steering setup is 'off the peng'

Took the plunge and bought a Sactto bike.
My son is already in a cycling club and has shown enough dedication to be on the track in the wind and rain, that I think this is not so extravagant.
Saccto have been very helpful and are interrupting their schedule to build one so we can have it before christmas.
I'll take some pics when we get it and will post them on the forum. -

'off the peng'
haha
I am looking to buy a new racing bike for my 8 year old son and have come accross a bike manufacturer called SCATTO in Belgium who make racing bikes for children.
Has anyone heard of them or knows anything about them ?
