1949 Dayton Fixie

Posted on
  • I just rebuilt this 1949 Dayton, and made it fixed
Surprisingly although being 60 years old it weighs nothing
I striped, de rusted, primed and re sprayed
i was just wondering what you think about it and any advice on how to make it better/ look nicer
Was my first build so i am well pleased

  • £1 fee.
stick it in current projects mate, don't start a new thread.
get some foot retention on that

  • This is the classifieds, you should have posted this in current projects thread.

If you want it to look nicer, put some drops on it, a nice stem, nice saddle/seatpost, nice wheels and nice cranks.

  • Then all you need is a nice frame and some nice wheels and it will be really nice.

  • Baby blue... Fail...

  • Slack chain, Brack-less, no foot retention, modern on vintage frame, Baby Blue Fixie (TM)

    Need I go on?

    £1 fee too.

  • My sisters father in law was telling me at Christmas how he used to ride a special bike when he was in his twenties, and how if he tried to stop too suddenly it would throw him out of the saddle. He was riding fixed with no foot retention.

Am guessing that was nearly fifty years ago.

  • What's your point, Jimbo?

  • My sisters father in law was telling me ................blah.................blah..............was nearly fifty years ago.

  • That not having foot retention on a fifty year old bike is actually in keeping with how it would have been set up

though of course it's pretty dangerous as Mike would attest to.

  • I was taking the piss...
