• The problem is that with a 42 mm chain line on a mtb frame with a large chainring you are likely to have this problem.

    Possible solutions.

    1. New hub with wider chain line. Also requires new b.b or moment of chainring rom inner to outer position.

    2. Re dish the wheel and pack some swasher on the non drive side between hub and frame to move chainline. Also needs the above change of chainring position or new b.b.

    3. Smaller chainring so that you do not have the rubbing, you will also want a smaller cog so that you maintain the same ratio.

    4. Crimp you chain stay. To do this shape a peace of wood to support the back of the chain stay, then in a vice clamp something the size and shape of the crimp you wish to create against the chainstay. Work slowly and in small increments.
