Anyone a glazier?

  • Hey gals and guys

I'm looking for a piece of toughened glass to act as a table top.
Needs to be 15/16mm thick, 225cm(l) x 110cm(w) clear glass with smooth edges (non bevelled)...
Can anyone help??/ Getting quotes for about £500 including VAT at the mo... Can anyone beat that????

Thanks for the help in advance

    Ollie

  • Try Kingseal, Lendal Terrace, Clapham North - http://www.kingsealwindows.co.uk/index.php

Nice guys in there and I used to get trade, not sure if I could anymore.

  • Cheers dude, will let you know how I get on!

  • Valerie Singleton might be able to help. I gether that she might have a used glass topped coffee table.

  • When I saw you'd posted, Clive, I thought "hello, either he's diversifying or he's been disbarred" - the latter seemed more likely.

  • After a sensible and helpful reply to the OP, I thought that we needed a gentle hijacking of the thread.

No good dude, need a dining table size

I was an apprentice glazier once but it was a real pane. My temper didn't help as I couldn't keep it at bay. It wasn't such shard work, but I would sill get home shattered. One day I considered sashing my wrists and I knew it was time to quit.

Sorry can't help the OP though.

  • No doubt you were accusing of theiving but claimed that you were framed.

Blimey, you must be taking a big dump.

  • I heard Jeff Banks and his Mrs were into a bit of living room scatplay too

  • G, I'm a little concerned about how much you know about the subject.....

  • That is a fucking big bit of glass. At that thickness it'll only come from a specialist; glazing glass is probably only 3-5mm thick. I've bought glass from Gibbs & Dandy before, they might be worth a try.

  • It'll be toughened as well at that size, good idea for that application anyway.

I'd try some architectural salvage outfits- I know for a fact that large panals of glass are pulled out of every All Bar One that shuts down or is refurbished into a different bar/pub.

If you get in early it is often free- i made a set of shelves 3 metres long, 50cm deep and three shelves high for the cost of loading glass panes into my boot.
