Try dogsballs, ehren_fried_chicken to name the first 2 people who come to mind...
Or, HTFU and learn to mend it yourself. I bit the bullet 6 months ago and just sat down and built a wheel, it's not that hard... A single spoke is easy too. Check Sheldon Browns site. It is bound to have some info...

awesome, thanks for the advice. i think i'll take this as a chance to get some wheel building practice in.
(she's okay by the way, a bit beaten up and a badly bruised foot but she'll survive)

Replacing a spoke is relatively easy, if you know the lengh.
(LBS, DT swiss spoke calc, or ask on here (include hub type, rim type and spoke pattern))
You'll just need a spoke key, and a flat head screw driver.
May be little more tricky if the wheels been thrown out of true though.

The frame survive?

From personal experience replacing a spoke in a relatively true wheel is easy, just make sure you have the correct size spoke key and thread it through the other spokes correctly.
If the wheel is buckeled by an amount that seems frightening, take it to a trusted lbs and see what they think, you don't want to spend a whole load of time trying to repair a fubar front wheel when you could pick up for not very much on here.

The frame survive?
yeah, the frame's fine (as far as i can tell), wasn't a massive hit, but i need to inspect it a bit closer.
@ed it's not too bad, slightly untrue at one point on the rim, TheBrick(Tommy) is having a look at it this week, see what the score is, otherwise a new wheel i guess...

Truing the wheel is the trickiest part of building one from scratch (IMHO). So getting it done by someone with experiance is not a bad idea.
My girlfriend had a nasty fall earlier; she's not really sure how it happened, but coming east on old street after the junction with goswell road, she hit a pothole, forward over bars and hit the road. She's pretty much okay, wthi a few cuts & bruises, except her foot got stuck in the front wheel, which ended up in a bruised/broken toe and a snapped spoke.
my question; anyone here got enough time/skill to replace the spoke?
