The L.A. Pidgeondex seems to be at just under $300, not sure about the NYC close but in Durham,NC an extra $10 will get you a double top tube.
There are plenty of better bikes available at that price, so there seems to be a pretty big fashion premium being paid for 20kg of poor quality Chinese steel.
@edscoble: they come in 22" only (PA-02), or 24" with the double top tube (PA-06)
