Working with a 70's Pug conversion which has of course the AVA stem and bars. Have heard that these have a reputation of failing. The stem appears to be in pretty could condition. Does anyone have any experience of these stems? Obviously not a good thing if it does fail but how common is this problem...is the risk worth it compared to either finding a used 22mm stem or buying new 22.2 and sanding it down?
