  • Islington have an in-house cycle trainer called Will Pountney. Try him:

    http://www.islington.gov.uk/Transport/Cycling/training/

    Free.

or failing that I have Pmd about my discount rate; available at short notice too.

  • City of London is EC1A, but in all honestly £60 is a bargain to be able to have a greater likeihood of not getting injuried or killed when riding a bike.

    It's more than just EC1A…

  • It'd be nice to keep this thread as narrow as possible really so it's an easy to read resource for people who are interested in training. Not that postcodes don't come in to that tangentially, nor that the men/women thing isn't vaguely relevant either but as little digression as possible would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Oh come on, I worded it as nicely as I know how. Now delete all your extraneous posts you ****** ******.

  • As long as you don't call me a ******* **** ****, that's okay.

  • ****s

  • No one could call either you or Will *******. He has chosen, however to label me the Fat Man which presumably means that he thinks I am ******* and also to refer to me as a ****. I wonder if he will not assert that I have **** tendencies.

" A creeping slackness is pervading our language"

    Ahem.

  • Not forgetting 'tendancies'.

  • A typographical error,Will, and crass ignorance, BMMF.

  • ignorance

  • The guy who called me back from CTUK today was super nice... did the whole "is now a good time to talk" thing - I was busy buying leeks, but anyways, he booked me in for a 2 hour sesh with someone on a sat morning in a couple of weeks. Best things (so far) are 1) training starts in the park at the end of my street, 2) I'll get to go on a bike maintenance course for a pittance rather than £65. BARGAIN (this is borough of Lambeth)! Plus I'll hopefully learn to avoid death better. I already feel like a winner.

  • for any one in london's famous london's famous borough of camden, i can thoroughly recommend applying for free cycle training, the person who i contacted was very good at communicating, i expected waiting days for replies and then poor communicating but they were very good at getting all the relevant info out of me.

@ VL ... I'm a Camden's famous Camdenite and have also been in touch with them about training and impressed with speed of response etc.. Just need to get back to them with some poss dates. If you do yours soon be sure to post a review as would be interested to hear how it goes...

  • pountney - sounds like a cross between pout and flounce is this a case of near onomatopaeic nominative determinism

  • kattiep is through Lambeth? i'm lazy and don't like leaving my borough at the weekend.

  • Had my cycle training session with Will this morning is very inclement conditions - which were probably ideal for the task in hand. Great communication. The session gave me confidence in my good practices and taught me some useful tools to make myself safer. My wife and daughters will be doing the sessions soon and so it was good to be on the same page as them and not worry about passing on bad habits.

We stopped at red lights which was nice.

Thanks Will. Well worth the cost. Will underprices himself.

  • you will not burn fat and add lean muscle mass whilst sitting chatting at red lights.

I will have something for you to do this winter, young Clivieo...

  • And I said I'd teach you to pedal…

  • together we will rebuild him...

  • And we will not underprice ourselves…

  • Good one Clive

  • Next weekend is a rest weekend, to gain motivation from watching cyclocross and track being done as they ought to be done. Thereafter it is pain. I will emerge rebuilt and with the smoothest of pedaling motions. I will also, after today, do so while assuming the correct road position and making eye contact with drivers.

  • There are no drivers where you are going, Clive.

    ..only the bicycle talks...

and the language it speaks, is pain.

  • There will be no American turning of the pedals, cliveo.
