It's an opinion piece, which reflects nothing but the opinion of those who edited it.
If the same footage had been edited by the Telegraph it would be full of people who vociferously despised them.
I fucking hate the things. So do a lot of people. They were designed for German airports, not narrow winding medieval streets.
