Was the Routemaster loved when it first came in though? Probably not.
It's nostalgia. In the same way that some people here are piping up and saying that they liked bendy buses - haven't heard that before now, but we'll be all misty-eyed about them when they're a distant memory.
One thing I will say in their favour was that riding home drunk and straddling the bendy bit was great fun. That little section, where everyone stood facing each other, was also quite a laugh sometimes, what with drunken banter going on.
