It is - i went from Spok, to Zipp, and the finally down to the full depravity of a HED Disc.

I think the theories around gateway spoks are potentially contentious and controversial but I think there is a grain of truth to the idea. For instance don't all kids who play violent BMX games with trispoks in them end up looking to HED3 to solve their problems in later life.
