• Wow..../\/\/\/

    thats a beauty...

this is my current project (which I just finished, it took a while as the bottom bracket was seized...though a months worth of easing oil, wd 40, and a hair dryer meant it eventually gave up...utter glee)

I have built and ridden loads of bikes but this is my first really nice steel frame, I have had nice bikes, but not a nice british steely that is a really close fit to what should be right for my size. Weirdly enough I got it off ebay, turned out the guy was 100 yrds from my moms...(and weirder he is exactly the same size as me).
It feels a tiny bit small, though with a 100m stem (I have a black cinelli with the 'hidden' bolt) it should fit a treat. I want to swap the swallow after I have ridden it the last few days, it looks nice but just isn't right...The ally racer is a little rangey and I think I have got a little used to it. I had a steel orbea for a while that was bliss to ride.

It's an early 80's Joe Waugh with 653 (columbus dropouts and cinelli lugs) and is so sweet to ride, it rolls so beautifully. (I have been riding ally for ages and you forget how harsh they are )It's really making me smile...;D...
I wanted to keep the paint, as even though it was/is tatty it has such nice decals, and they just look *nice...*I have a thing for patina...

It is having some nice 80's black modolo calipers and white hooded levers from hilary soon.

The wheels are tiding me over as the front is an old black malliard, and a gran compe rear flip-flop with a mach 1 rim (they match as they are black, and look nice black). I have better wheels though they are not black...and it's winter so these may as well get dirty...though have some sups on ultegra hubs though they have a cassette...and some campy records with saturae rims...which would be about the right time frame...hhmmm.
'Vintage' 20 vittorios that are a nice green.
3ttt bars and stem. will soon have black bar tape to match the levers and calipers.
    70's Dura ace cranks 170
Gian Robert stem and Brooks swallow seat....
I am loving riding it, and have been everywhere the last few days...I did canary wharf to hackney wick in 16 minutes this morning...I was so nice with the wind and the leaves bombing through vicky park after dealing with the idiots coming up through mile end.

I'm liking the white black green thing as it goes with the 653 badge.

I will try to post better photos soon with the new brakes and other bits.
