Last night my brake cable broke going up Charing Cross Road and I stacked it.
When into Evans on Rathbone place for a new cable and took the one the sales person suggested.
However was having problems fitting it and their mechanic came to give advice. He promptly said I had been sold the wrong cable, so went off, got the right one and even fitted it for free.
So chapeau to Caspar at Evans. Proper service recovery.

Just to let you know, that service in my LBS (Bike Shack in Leyton) noticeably improved :-)
More technicians, good prices, some good bits in stock. -

Pearson's in Sutton. Really helpful when I bought my Touche last year, and really helpful since then with advice about mechanical stuff, even letting me a few bits and bobs when I bought some anti-seize off them.

SKS. The rubber seal in the valve head on my Rennkompressor pump was worn out. I e-mailed them asking how to get a new seal and they immediately replied to say they'd send me the new multivalve head free of charge. It arrived asap. Great customer service.

Evans(canary wharf) - I bought a the 100cm Kryptonite forgetaboutit lock from them in september and a few weeks ago it was broken (thh mini D was jammed shut) so I took it in there and asked if I had to claim through kryptonite. They greased it up and tried to get it open but couldn't so they tole me they would make the claim to kryptonite themselves and replaced the lock for me on the spot. brand new £120 lock for me, which i price matched to £70 in the first place. They were also really friendly in there so, well done Evans Canary Wharf, the guy in there even remembered me buying it.

I'd like to nominate the fellows in Bicycle Magic on Greatorex Street. They've always been helpful and happy to provide advice and answer questions when I've been in. One of the chaps in there - don't know his name - just removed a really stubborn freewheel for me. I asked if he wanted any money but he said no. Bravo!

Got a used (2003) 55cm Bianchi Veloce Reparto Corse from SJS_Cycles Ebay shop. Bike delivered by Tuffnells early on day I asked for. Bike was well boxed and prepared and is running fine after unpacking and putting pedals on and handlebars straight. They answered an email enquiry within a couple of minutes (thanks to Ellie Medland). The ebay listing was also nice and detailed with good pictures.

There's a new mechanic (maybe two) at Lock 7 who sorted a bottom bracket for me. Thought it was going to be a complete nightmare cause it had damaged threads but they did it for me in short time and it seems to be ok. They all seem very friendly and able to communicate well which really helps on those bleak mornings when you seem to have one little mechanical problem after another...

Hi, I'm a new member and wanted to give a shout out to Ken Fosters Cycle Logic in Chorlton, Manchester. They removed my busted cranks from my latest project build for free and always offer helpful advice no matter how busy they are.

I went to BLB and Shop 14 and received excellent service from both, cheers guys.
I wish I lived closer to a decent bike shop so I didn't have to rely on CRC so much.

Have to give props to Highonbikes.com
Ordered a couple of bits through them on eBay, great prices and super fast shipping.
They get a A* for sorting out problems - ordered a front mech but they sent me the wrong one.
Emailed them and the same day they sent out the correct one, with an prepaid envelope to send back the other one back. Nice action. -

Jenni at Alpkit.
bought some jeans and i was really picky about a stitching fault. sent them back and i got a new pair in the post before i even realised they had received the faulty ones. i thought it would take a while for them to inspect and decide etc etc. no hassle with the exchange, and the refund for another pair (wrong size) was swift too. super friendly, chit chat on the phone, and an email about a month later to see how the new ones were working out. tip top.

Shaun at Wiggle. I bought a Kona mountain bike in the Wiggle sale, and had it shipped to France. It arrived in good time, really well packed, all properly adjusted. I put it together and went for a v quick spin in the woods, just fireroads and mud tracks, nothing exciting. The brakes were set up in the French fashion, i.e. front brake lever on the left. It was a little unnerving to say the least.
Anyhoo, I reviewed it on their website (I almost didn't bother, it's the '09 model, and I figured they were about to take it off the site), mentioning this little tiny problem. That was this morning. This afternoon, 3.30ish UK time, I get a call on my French mobile from an English number. It's wiggle, of course. Shaun explained that they send out most of their bikes to the continent like that because that's how brakes are set up out here (God knows how motorbikers with bikes manage).
He told me to take it to a local bike shop, get them to change the hoses over, email them a scan of the receipt, and they'd refund the money straight onto my card!
Changing hoses isn't a biggie, but I'd have to get the oil, bleed the brakes, and it can get messy, so I'll glad help out my local bike shop with this one.
Top-notch-extra-mile service from wiggle.

Wiggle did me proud recently too. I accidently lost my rag last week and brought a Felt F95 slipstream and numerous other bits. It took them a day and a half to sent it to me. Wasn't expecting that.

Action Bikes - Embankment
went in there with a frame, looking for a lockring tool to help remove the fixed cup bottom bracket. They asked what I wanted it for and I said to take off the old BB. Mechanic said he would do it for free no worries and just took it away for a few minutes and came back with my frame free of bb and the now removed BB in a bag. Was really excellent service above and beyond the call of duty which helped me out loads.

Ordered summink, it was really very nice but not quite right for my purposes, returned it and was refunded straight away including the original postage. All within just a couple of days.
Top drawer service and communication.
P.S. they've finally changed the category names on the website so now you can find what you're after without having to tear your head off.
