So basically I went through a red light (very slowly, about 4mph) at Cambridge circus yesterday turning right up charing cross road, there was one ped crossing the road (not within the pedestrian crossing markings), shorty followed by copper on motorbike pulling me over. He said he's stopping me for dangerous wreckless or careless cycling. He then read me my rights as if he was arresting me, and told me I would receive a summons IN THE POST for me to appear at a magistrates court. He gave me no paperwork or documentation/endorsement/tilet informing me of what I had done/the penalty, and just told me I could receive a fine of up to £2500.
Surely this is not entirely legit, especially as he gave me literally nothing to take away. If had a few run ins with the police and every time I got a ticket.
Anyone know anything/heard anything like this before?
