Sorry to kick the responses off with cynicism. . . .
But I always imagine these public consultations to be largely about the sheen of democracy, the impression of community participation in decision making. I doubt that even if every single member here stood in support of a certain provision for cyclists that it would necessarily follow that anything would happen. That's not to say whatever is put forward by members will not be listened to, I am sure it will, but that it will also be casually ignored if it does not fit in with the myriad of other competing concerns.
My post is pointless cynicism really . . . so take it with a pinch of salt - go for it if you think it will make a difference, get loads of people to ask for better provision of cycle lanes or some ongoing safety concern or other cycling related London issue, maybe demand that Royal parks be opened up to cyclists . . . . who knows !?
I can't see anything changing.

I filled out the form, wrote 3/4 of a nice long letter then hit enter by accident and the thing got sent!
I agree with tynan (though not with all his views, the racist pig) and in any case cyclists will be led into saying that more/better "cycling facilities" on the roads will improve things and they'll get some more painted green lines and boxes, when the actual, real solution is to make vehicular traffic undergo a massive change so cyclists can use the perfectly good road network in safety.

double post, roxy: https://www.londonfgss.com/thread31288.html
(it's actually in the highlights box at the top of the site - transport policy consultation - although not sure if anyone ever looks at that. actually, it's had about 7-800 views, so maybe...)
admittedly, i am very tempted to agree with tynan - "it's no use voting, the government always get's in" - but you might as well fight them at every opportunity.

Look at it this way. It won't do any harm to fill out the form. It could do harm not to.

Agreed, no harm done plus you get the sensation that someone is listening to you, a little like intercessory prayer.
:P
But seriously, it's not that I don't think big changes cannot happen, just that it is vanishingly rare that it ever comes from government. . . .
. . . but, like you say, no harm trying.

They will have to publish the consultation responses (or some kind of digest including the summary results of the multiple choice part). If the consultation says one thing and TfL decide on a completely different policy it does make it slightly politically uncomfortable.
So go for it, it doesn't take very long.

Tell that to Prof Nutt.
The mayor is asking for your opinion about transport in London. With 6,000± members we can really sway this.
Have your say about walking, cycling, etc...
