Broken parts

  • I've got a nice pick of a drop-out which I snapped (climbing a very steep hill) sending the rear mech though the rear wheel, destroying said mech, bending the chain, and taking out several spokes. looked a right mess, still cant work out why it went through the rear wheel. Interestingly, (according to my LBS) thats wear and tear, WTF.

Similar thing happened to me, except I shifted to the granny gear and my mech was misallianged it went into the wheel which ripped it and the hanger off while destroying the wheel and chain. Was about 20 years ago though so no pictures.

I do have enough broken parts to fill this thread up if I wanted to... does a bent top tube count as broken parts?

Next time I'm bored I'll take a bunch of pictures...

  • my frieds bike. bike vs bus

  • broken link thanks

  • i've heard so many of those eggbeaters breaking

  • i've heard so many of those eggbeaters breaking

that said, i'm still going to get some more, in use they are great, no problems at all. and if i'd bought the pricier ones i could have replaced the bearing and they'd have been fine. three years everyday use ain't bad in my book.

  • wow
that's worth hanging on the wall

  • I love the fact that this has broken just below where it says "safety system"

Just dont buy the mxr model. I get the impression thats the one that breaks alot. Its the budget version of the eggbeater, which Crank bros brought out to offer a cheaper option (possibly to get people to try out the mechanism). Seems to be trashing their rep, if you ask me.

  • modern art in a thank god i'm alive kind of way

  • Looks like a folding bike...

  • I just bunnyhopped and it snapped! It was probably due to the fact that 2 weeks ago I jumped seven stairs on it (and that its not really made for such tricks lol). It served me well......after all it was my first fixed gear.
    RIP Lemond!

  • Just snapped my seatpost clamp. Torque wrench, less than 8Nm, bang. It was old clamp but still annoying. Anyone have a spare? 32mm seattube outside diam.

  • Should have got a Campag one......

Actually, I did my Campag one a couple of months back. "I'll tighten it a tiny bit more...." BANG!

  • I've snapped the black Campy one (just like this one, but.. you know, Campy).
It was overtightened and snapped while I was riding. Bang! And I felt like I've got meself a lowrider.

Ha. Once I get rid of the Rubble I'll have a single Campag hub and that's my lot from those dodgy Italians. This is an M:Part clamp. It has been fine but perhaps didn't like the new bike?

  • Maybe I need to check M:Part torque ratings rather than the carbon post. Fuck it. Shimano clamp time. Do they even make clamps?

  • This is what you need

  • For real fat asses.

  • No thanks. I'll just get another and use less torque.

  • Hippy

am back tomorrow but do have a spare clamp

  • Fat ass

  • sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit
