  • I really don't care about any phone where someone prevents me to use it for tethering ... oh, that's all of them, apart from the n900 that is, as you have root access there and can do whatever you want.

    Hence why I pre-ordered one. The thought to buy something from some shitty app shop is mindboggling to me.

    I am currently using macs, and I am so pissed off with this whole direction that they're going. Iapps here, MyPhone this, MobileMe there. I remember when I had my "lifetime" .mac account, which then got swiftly converted into some pay for service.

    Therefore I am deeply suspicious about assigning control away from myself to some non-open manufacturer. And if I write an app I wanna be able to use it and pass it on. Why would I have to wait until some suckers approve it?

    For others it might be a nono, but for me nothing's wrong with apt-get install at a later point. If the n900 is something that isn't fully developed yet as a software platform, I think that's OK. Someone will fill the gap, and if not, I will just write something for it me thinks.

    It has python support, and I have the SDK already fired up and working :)
