I think I worked out that my not-particularly-expensive bike would pay for itself in saved tube fees in a year. So I can afford to get a bike a year nicked and still be quids in and happy.
In fact. As it has now been a couple of years, I feel I can get something nicer next time, and am tempted to start using a cheaper lock.
