I agree with the opening post. I for one do find it annoying that things get stolen.

Best solution, have a commuting bike and a decent lock and resign yourself to maybe having it stolen. Get another bike you don't let out of you sight, and which you take to bed and pork 4 nights a week

funnily my partner said the same as the OP "is there any point" in light of my other bike being nicked recently.

I think I worked out that my not-particularly-expensive bike would pay for itself in saved tube fees in a year. So I can afford to get a bike a year nicked and still be quids in and happy.

In fact. As it has now been a couple of years, I feel I can get something nicer next time, and am tempted to start using a cheaper lock.
