£400? had an MRI for about £60 few years ago. that was in philippines tho. they're cheap down there. had artists sketch out the results on the spot.
have you had an xray? most of the time that's enough to show what's wrong and where
Xray doesn't show the soft tissues well enough, CT scans also aren't ideal.

Either way, it's up to the 'health professional' that refers you as to what you have. In my case MRI was the requirement, Xray was not wanted.
