You could get a brand new Surly 1x1 for around £50, or possibly cheaper if you play your VCL-do-a-lot-of-good-work-for-charidee card at BC…

About the same weight as the 1x1's, but straight blade - which seem more at home on mountain bikes.
I've got a nice old Saracen Sahara Pro that I removed the knackered old suspension forks from and replaced with some equally crap rigid forks.
Has anyone got and half decent rigid forks hanging around? Preferably a-head, but threaded would be fine. Its a large frame though so I'd need a lot of steerer just under 9" if its a-head.
Ideally wouldn't mind something like the Kona P2s to be a bit more in keeping with the "period" of the bike, but something modern would be fine.
I could stretch to £40 or £50 if anyone's got anything nice. Can pickup anywhere in London.
