white collar crime (fraud, insider trading etc) is of high value, rarely prosecuted etc etc, almost on a par with domestic violence, and gay rape
physical theft and violence tend to be associated with lower income groups
the legal system is also biased against those who are less financially well off, due to cost of representation etc, and with better counsel you are more likely to end up with reduced sentence if found guilty

Still rather get knocked off by a posh twat who has a load of money,
than some uninsured twat in a stolen car who is still pissed on last nights white ace.
stokes the fires
Its not how long he spends in jail that I would care about,
its how much money i would get for my injuries, and how quickly my bike would be replaced. -

The fact that the driver here intentionally drve at someone really pisses me off. It is exactly the same as me swinging a crowbar at someone's head and claiming I only meant to 'clip' them. I suspect that the latter would land me more than a couple of years in jail and I totally fail to see what the difference is with a car.

He reeks of being MPS (Thats a Minor Public School in Sloane Speak), who quite frankly are the worst kind of middleclass upstarts, who when given a sniff of a priviledged upbringing do their best to lord it over anyone who has the misfortune to come onto their radar, whilst still having a massive chip that mater and pater actually had to work very hard to get them into that position in the first place.
Looks to me like he probably failed the Wellington Common Entrance and ended up at Shiplake.

I think Oliver's comment that its relatively unusual for someone to banged up for this sort of thing is worth bearing in mind.
I would guess that his Machiavellian antics with covering it up, threatening and trying to discredit his stable lad, washing the car of evidence and lying about how it / what happened, would have made a negative impression on the average judge (an oxymoron perhaps?) more than the fact that he drove dangerously at a cyclist. If he'd just stopped, owned up, called the ambulance, pleaded SMIDSY etc he'd have only got a slap on the wrist.

The next time I feel aggrieved by someone, I'm going for the good old fashioned vomit on them routine... Was he puking from shock that he was going down or was it more of a "This is what I think of your ruling judge" angry puke!!?! Angry puke FTW!

Jail sentences in this country are a joke, for all sorts of crime...33 months for this? Unbelievable... Why should he not be locked up for 10 years? The victim will live with his injuries for the rest of his life...

True, Harvey Smith never struck me as being particularly posh.
This guy's a cunt, it just had to be a posh git didnt it.
'Robertson has a previous conviction for driving off after a collision.
The judge, who revealed that Robertson had had psychiatric treatment after an attack on his mother, said that the defendant was upset that his mother had appeared as a prosecution witness. “You feel she has been disloyal,” he said.'
The future looks bright for this idiot, and not so for the unfortunate person that he hppens to kill next time he loses his rag. 33 months, what a pisstake!
