  • Use a shim. I've had one in a stem for ages and forget its even there. They are as safe as houses.

  • Andy only weighs six stone though and is currently posting from his wheelchair after a 'mystery' accident on his heavily shimmed bike.

  • I just bought a nitto 25.4 straight bar that i want to use with my cinelli pista stem.
    is the coke can shim a good idea or should i just buy the nitto shim?
    or should i just buy a new handlebar?

  • strongbow shim is well, err, stronger.... no.. seriously it is, thicker metal.

    the bars are too small in diameter for the stem.

  • I ran a 25.4 bar in a 26 stem for ages, it was an accident I only realized when I cam to change the stem!
