• Hi all – I have just bought a 60s track frame in need of a little tlc and need to get hold of a cheapish wheelset with 110mm rear hub and the front is 100mm and also with the thinner axle to fit a tighter drop out (I think it’s 8/9mm). Can anyone help out?

  • 110mm is not common, so you may have trouble finding that spacing of rear hub very cheaply, but good luck.. Maybe you can just spring the frame to 120? It won't hurt it.

As for the front axle diameter issue, I have an old campagnolo record pista front hub (world logo), 36h, that has had filed off two tiny sections of the axle to accomodate that kind of smaller front dropout. It's now unlaced and doing nothing in my parts box. It could do with a polish to make it gleam. Runs smooth and in good overall condition, spoke marks not serious, (was laced 3x). Yours for £30 (+ post if necessary).

  • Thanks Skully. If a rear wheel shows up I'll be in touch.

If not, I guess i will have to stretch it out. Was hoping not to have to resort to that though.

  • I've got a 27" fixed/fixed rear I might be tempted to part with... It was 110mm but I had it respaced to 120mm... One side may be stripped, still haven't checked... LF Airlite on a Weinmann... Any good? If it's an old frame chances are it was built for 27' wheels anyway... You can pick up a 27" front for pennies, if not for free... Not sure about axle but can measure for ya...
