  • Hmmm I don't know if I'd be able to offer you enough if it was £150 when new. Also I should add that I'm not using a lightbox for photography, it's for getting layers matched up for screenprints. I would build one but just don't have the time.

  • i was thinking about £40?

  • Blimey I was thinking you were gonna be asking for loads more, £40 sounds good. Is the surface smooth and unscratched? Is it easy to replace the lightbulbs?

  • all will be revealed tomorrow....

  • The post above by Bigfoot, regarding his Canonet GIII QL, reminded me that I always felt that there is a photographic version of fixed-gear cycling,
and it is beautifully expressed by cameras related to that one.

Specifically, there are 35mm fixed-lens rangefinder cameras, with fast apertures, and mechanical shutters, that fit this bill.
Imagine, the cameras have a minimalistic specification, allowing the photog to just shoot. Battery dies? Keep shooting, especially if one has a
Sekonic L-398A to hand. That meter doesn't need batteries, and is so accurate, that it is still used to help calibrate electronic meters. Honest.

    Canonet G-III 17 40mm, f1.7, flash sync all speeds 1/4-1/500 +B,
    Minolta 7sII 40mm, f1.7, flash sync all speeds 1/8-1/500 +B,
    Olympus 35 SP 42mm, f1.7, flash sync all speeds 1-1/500 +B,
    Yashica Lynx 14E 45mm, f1.4, flash sync all speeds 1-1/500 +B,
    Yashica Lynx 14 **45mm, f1.4, flash sync all speeds 1-1/500 +B, **

So with only one lens, a fast aperture, and full flash sync through all speeds, is there a better camera for pocketable, photographic purity?

    EDIT:
    Yashica examples of photographic qualities.
The Electro is similar to Lynx in lens quality, but is a battery dependent camera.

  • I was lucky enough to spend a couple of days in the desert in the UAE recently. i have never experienced proper desert scenery before.... it was stunning.
i took a couple of shots an my holga, and a few on my Olympus Trip, which really struggled with the extreme light. (i got a few nice silhouettes though)
i wish i had more film with me.... at least i had my D80 to fall back on.

  • i'm also really happy with this shot i got of a good friend of mine, who i hadn't seen in a few years and is now living over there.

  • thanks! it's such a crazy landscape. i could happily spend a few weeks there just walking round on my own taking photos of the vast open planes.

i think the images were too big, as they've all changed to links now.

  • anyone know where an idiot like me can get slide film processed?

  • i'd like that info too!

  • oh and by the way loving the colour on the first shot 'hoops

  • anyone know where an idiot like me can get slide film processed?

The answer is right here in this thread.

Bumped this answer from Non-digital photography and cameras, so that others could see it.

  • Last time I was down for the Delta 400 and 3200. I'll also take the Fuji Reala as well, if that's not being too greedy. I'm in the East End so picking up is no problem. PM sent.

  • That was a pain in the arse - I remember you dibsing before the server problems but I cant remember who else it was - I would rather give first preference to you and them before anyone else jumps in - seem to remember them wanting some of the HP5 but I can't remember their name...

Anyway, I've dibsed the film for you, so let me know when's good for you to collect.

  • I'd like some colour Kodak for my Holga if any of it is 400iso... if your willing to drop them in an envelope and post? I'd happily Paypal you a few squids for your troubles?

  • could I grab that 2 x Kodak Royal Gold by any chance? will pm now

  • will provisionally dibs the darkroom eq. PM on the way

  • I could really do with some advice on an Olympus OM-4....
I have always shot digital, but have been given an OM-4, and i would love to utilise it, but.......
The mirror appears to be stuck and fails to come down. I have changed the batteries, but with no success. Is this common with OM's?
Any help would be awesome. Cheers in advance.

  • It may be that the mirror dampening foam has turned to glue and is causing the mirror to stick up.

Also the OM4 has a mirror lockup function - its not just this that needs turning off is it?

  • Thanks danb - i'll take a browse through the manual....
