Saw two scrotes pegging it on bikes going into the big Sainsbury's near Vauxhall, then saw a snipped cable lock at the bike park. Wasn't about to see the poor sods reaction when he came out.

my babe got stolen 2 weeks ago in Clerkenwell out of the office building ( posted it, but as server broke down.... post is gone, bla bla bla)
got this fucker even on cctv and could see how he nicked it, awfule when the abstract becomes a face. but I haven't reconized him. but must be a buddy from a courier or driver who is often in our building a nd say my bike. he knew exactly what to do ( bike was parked in a more hidden spot) and how to open the outside gate from the inside with the bike.
he looked like one of us... tall, dark hair...more important: if you see my bike let me know...
thanks a lot... hope we can help each other....
mx
may have spotted this on Euston road near the Tottenham Road junction bus stop....
the bike i saw definately had the same grips, white tyres and a dark frame... it was dark and i didn't get a good enough look.
the guy who was holding it was black and was talking to his girlfriend

Careful about the dubious legality of removing such a bike even if you are 100% the proper owner. Stolen bikes should really be recovered by the police only. I obviously know that quite often, people don't get the police time they request. Glad you got your bike back all the same.
since i had the crime ref number from when i reported it stolen and could describe the bike as matching the one chained to the lamp-post and knew 100% that it was mine i didnt have any problems, i also rang the police when i found it and after it had been liberated, and they gave me the go-ahead down the phone, i think if i hadn't reported my bike as stolen it may be have been a bit harder to seek approval to do this though.

Yes. I've learned a big lesson today before anyone says anything else.
Lack of lock knowledge is a dangerous thing. I feel such a twat which just adds to the gutted feeling

it's impossible to know these things, without someone telling you.
personally i think all bike shops in and around london should tell everyone buying locks to buy the ones that work,
and to let them know that the cable locks are merely shoe laces in the fight against london crims walking round with bolt cutters.lesson learnt the hard way.

To be fair I bought the lock ages ago for another bike. In the back of my mind I did wonder if it was enough and realise that thieves will get past most if the really want to but I should have done my research.
There is a camera right above where it was taken from so there's a vague chance it'll be on CCTV but I doubt that'll make any difference.

Hi there,
my bike was nicked today out the back of my place of work in farringdon. here is an older picture of it... more recently had a yellow rear tyre. its got a re-tapped bottom bracket with not quite matching paintwork. please contact me or islington police if you spot it.

my marin larkspur was stolen from outside the Ritzy on Monday 16 nov. it is dull silver, had a silver back pannier, a couple of cables round the seat post, the seat has suspension, not the standard one that came with the bike. in the unlikely event anyone spots it please let me know!

i agree that warning people about locks is a way to go, but i simply dont understand what goes on in this city anymore. i've just been to japan and i've seen so many cool bikes (like the one attached) with nothing but a bread pack wire locking them. granted, most japanese bikes are the unisex commuter type, but those they dont even bother locking to a rail.
why have some gone stray in london?

in London I'd give that bike a "steal by date" of 1min maybe 2min if the thief tripped over on his way to the bike.

Completely different culture.
and different justice system too, for instance like their practice of executing mentally ill prisoners, even when some of the prisoners has no idea that they're sentenced to death until the last minutes.
