• Come along on your current gear and see how it goes. I did most of my winter miles last year on 69 but feel now like I could have got much more out of it with a lower gear. You make the effort to ride on cold weekend morning why not make sure to maximise the time spend on the bike if you have certain goals. If you are more interested in general aerobic workout that is fine too and I wouldnt worrie too much about specific gearing. In general it helps to keeps the group tidy if all are on similar gears. A higher gear might get you faster around RP but that is not main concern at this time of the year.
