• Hi, my housemate has this Sturmey Archer-hubbed 3-speed step-through bicycle. It's midnight blue in colour, and is in a rideable state, although the front mudguard needs sorting as it hits the tyre a bit along the wheel's rotation. He uses it to go shopping on. Looks like he's replaced the front caliper at some point, to a Weinmann, and this alo needs attention as when it gets pulled it doesn't return...standard braking error I imagine. And I think the gears don't work.

Comes with back rack and mudguards, as seen in the pictures...

    • Frame size approx 52cm from centre to imaginary top tube.
    • Some nice lugging too.
    • There's a bit of rust on it, but I think it's mostly surface rust.
    • It has the original paintwork as far as I can tell.
    • Not sure of the model, but the hub has 79 - 3 on it (as far as I can remember, I looked a few hours ago now and can't remember the lettering on hub which would tell me model), which I think means it was made in 1979, and is 3-speed. Couldn't properly identify what the frame says on it, as the decals had rubbed off, and there's no headbadge; but there is a visible crown emblem on the frame, which is the lesser seen Raleigh crown logo, also found on the bell. Ding dong.
Good for gf project? Really wish i had a use and we had the space for this

Collection as complete bike only, in Homerton y'all.

    Tah

  • I think I know someone who this'd be perfect for... let me ask 'em and get back to you...

  • Okie Dokie

  • The frame shape, lug pattern and general quality says it's a Raleigh-made bike, but the fork crown and plain chainring suggests it is one of their sub-brands. Probably Triumph.

The hub markings suggest March 1973. It's bound to be a 3 speed - I bet it says AW on it somewhere, which is the model.

  • Potential dibs, pending some news.

Aah, I'll have another look later on tonight when at home, but yeah I think it does say AW. Triumph you say? Interesting...thanks :)
