I'm pretty sure you can also get them at quite a few bike shops and camera shops also. Jessops and Jacobs should have them, but I haven't checked.

is the linnell bag alright for the money? i just can't justify spending more than £30 on a bag, i just want my stuff dry, and i am quite partial to the reflective strip.

• #704
Yes.
But that question has been answered many, many, many times before.
If the Royal Mail put several bags through numerous tests, and picked that one, what does that tell you?

thanks, sorry i was feeling lazy, i will trawl through the thread..

http://www.michaellinnell.co.uk/index.php?p=showprod&id=448
this or
http://www.michaellinnell.co.uk/index.php?p=showprod&id=453total cost for 2 of the first would be £35 each, (which is the one i want) or £40 for the second.

I want to buy a rolltop and I say it all looks really reliable and nothing fishy about it, but I dont want to be an idiot who didnt double check it and ended up wiring some paypall money to a guy in nigeria :)srsly no offence meant to aaspden who created it..! Just want some verification..

this brand's logo on the bottom of messenger's bag really looks like SAG life bag.
similar design style?????
but looks more strong than SAG life then.vag post:

yeah i know, but design wise ive made up my mind.
they do look the same (and thus look pretty cool) as a sag bag, look equally firm or better - and i dont mind the word VAGX :)
but they are cheaper so..just wanted to know if someone allready bought from this guy - a londoner who bought a big stock to resell them over here. Which is ok, cause their website is in korean + shiping costs are cut and so fourth..

I would buy from him. I don't know him, but he's been honest in everything so far?
That's good enough for me.
Nice bags, and a good enterprise.

exacly my feeling as well, but 120£ is worth double checking this..
So far, judging from the e-mails i got from him, he seems legit, not dodgy at all.I'm giving it one more day, if I havent found anything that points him out as dodgy I'm ordering me a rolltop.. Wish me luck :)
As to answering to the SAG vs VAG dispute:
yes theyre obv likewise designs but I cant seem to find anyhting wrong with the vag ones. They dont look like cheap rip offs with the only intention of trying to look like a sag bag, they re just good bags, similar to an other brand but good enough on their own. Plus I can get my hands on one fairly easy (as opposed to säg) and fairly cheap (again as opposed to säg). -

Velo Libre, i would split a bag order. was meant to be splitting one with some other forumgers but Linnel were out of stock and now it seems to not be happening, need a new bigger bag! i think i want the more expensive one, but we dont need to get the same one

...i just ordered an vagx bag in b/w, its supposed to be still on his way, so i dont know if everything will work out well (iam holding the bag in my hands). but so far everything seemed to be all fine. especially that he covered the additional costs to send it over to germany where iam currently am.
will report more if i get hold of the bag.

I won't add these to the list, but they look like fun, and maybe a change from the serious bags in the list.
I wouldn't recommend these for day-in day-out use, or for bad weather use either. More of a good weather bag I think.

Can anyone recommend any messenger / camera bags? I know you can buy the inserts separately so I was wondering if this is the route people usually take. I'd need one big enough to carry, one body, a couple of lenses, plus 35mm camera, camera accessories and usual cycling accessories.

Wicksie, before asking this question, did you even bother to LOOK at the list on page 1 of this thread?
EDIT: Without even looking, I know there is Kata, Billingham and Crumpler.

Now that I've looked, there is also Domke and LowePro.
I'd recommend Kata, but it is such a personal thing (fit, style, etc), that you can only go try them in shops yourself.

Think Tank all the way. I carry my "kit" in a Speed Demon. Also, can wear a rucksack/messenger at the same time.... but yeah, make an effort and go try some out. there isn't the ultimate bag (ok maybe archies) there are just alot of good bags that suit people in different ways.

Yes, I LOOKED. Oh so quick to flame on this place. Sigh.
I know the brands out there but I wanted people's personal experience which I know there is a wealth of on this forum, which, is why I'm here.
Thanks b'jammin.

Wicksie, I almost feel apologetic, but not quite yet. I'm running low on tablets.
I've done photography for over 30 years (from first camera, as a youngster) and cannot say that I've tried all the bags out there.
I can recommend Billingham, as I've owned those, and they are 531 awesome; but pricey.
I handled a Crumpler, and wasnt convinced at all. I am probably the only person on this forum that owns a CCS BackPack. Its a full size extravagance, that easily holds 2xRB67, 3 lenses, Metz45CL, and film plus nick-nacks. I doubt that would be even close to what you wanted, and really, it is not difficult to find a bag, then google reviews for it.
Much more chance of finding out cycling stuff here, than photographic equipment. That said, there are photographic threads on here, where it possible that somebody may have been inclined to google reviews for you, and post them for your particular benefit.
Flame? Is that flaming? Try going on the football thread and proclaiming that Everton is a scum football team.

Some personal opinion, thank you, that was what I was after. I know there's an abundance of photographers on here, hence why I asked, and I thought it more reliable than google reviews, and more relevant because I want a comfortable camera bag for my bike. Which is also why I didn't ask the photography forum I'm on. Two hobbies, one question.
Now, I"ll stop clogging up this thread with pedantic points and let it get back to bags. Specifically those that are comfortable to ride with which hold cameras well.

Hey guys,
I've brought in some Trash Bags from Minnesota, hand made by a messenger mate of mine. I like the way they look, but if any of you are around brixton and feel like popping in and giving an opinion, please do. The huge bag is £160, the smaller is £140 and the pouch is £40, all water-proof with x-straps. I'm really pleased for my mate that he is doing this, and it would be great to be able to give him some feedback. -

Wicksie...
As a working professional I can heartily recommend anything by Kata or Thinktank.
Lowepro is ok as well, (I do own some Lowepro stuff) but not up to the same kinda durability and comfort level as Kata, and I only use thinktanks modular system for weddings, events, etc... for speed and all-day comfort, I use their steroid speed belt and various holsters, sliding pouches so I can carry a couple of bodys with lenses in holsters and just pull em out when I need them, plus other essentials like pocketwizards, cards, and spare cables/brackets etc.If its a backpack/messenger bag type thing you want, then KATA are the best out there IMO, i've had one of their backpacks now for over 2 years and the thing is bombproof, it gets daily use, a minimum of 4-5 days a week, and its like the terminator of bags (except without the awful 3rd sequel and stupid prequel shit).
Something like this would be nice for on the bike:
http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-kata-3-in-1-sling-backpack-3n1-30/p1027700
However the level of protection is not heavy duty enough that I would be "happy" to crash on it, if that makes sense.
I own the previous version of this:
http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-kata-r-103-gdc-rucksack/p1008673
Can't remember the model name but its discontinued now, however the level of protection is so good i'd be happy to throw it out of a first floor window and still expect my gear to be just fine, pisses all over the Lowepro equivalent in those stakes, and a very good padded back and straps that are super durable.
However downside is they are not light, but the first one is far less bulky to carry on the bike, depends what you need/want from your bag I guess.

Gosh, now there's a reply. Cheers James. I love those kata bags.
I'm really more after a day bag as it's going to have all my day to day shi.. in, as well as a few cameras, so more of a casual messenger than an actual camera bag. I reckon the way forward is a sturdy, waterproof padded messenger with some domke inserts or similar.
Ideally I'd like both but recession and all that.

To swing away from camera bags...
I'm currently using DHLs lovely tracking service to keep tabs on the bag I ordered yesterday - a large Bagaboo pro workhorse from Urbanhunter in Brighton. To say I'm excited about it turning up tomorrow would be an understatement! :)
Great thanks for that. I was looking on their site yesterday and failed to notice that link. Doh!
