I have to pedantically point out that this thread is largely turned into what people don’t like about common idioms.
ha that sounds so 'mr logic'^its untrue.
anyway, there is a push button door at the library today that is clearly marked 'automatic door', but, you could do the whole of the macarena standing outside there and it still wouldn’t open! so wtf has it got automatic all over it for.
