The amount of "MacLaren/Alonso throwing his toys out of the pram" jokes was ridiculous last season.

• #1503
So who's going to snap up McCarthy? I hear he's been riding Cruiserbikes this season.
-
• #1504
Apologies, as I am a(n) arse about this, but:
MacLaren
Let's get this party started!!!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/nov/10/michael-schumacher-1994-benetton-f1-ebay
The car's bodywork has been maintained in the condition it was in for the 1994 season, complete with sponsors' labels, though on the pictures there are no obvious signs of the damage sustained when Schumacher collided with Damon Hill in the final race of that season in Adelaide. Both drivers were subsequently forced to retire from that race, allowing Schumacher to maintain his one-point lead over Hill and hence win the driver's title.
Classic... :)

Unlike on Damon's car, you all may hate me for it, but that moment when his wishbone goes "plink", I do love that =P

Don't get me wrong - I never liked Hill, but to do that rather than win the title through pure skill and driving ability? Unforgivable...

I still believe Damon was at fault, he dived down the inside of Schumacher knowing that the door was closing on him, he could've waited and passed him at any other point on the track with ease, of course he didn't know that Schumacher's car was damaged so I guess it was just impatience and taking too big of a risk, put it this way, if that had been Senna, I bet no one would've tried to throw one up the inside, well, except maybe Schumacher =P

I wonder if they've removed the illegal launch/traction control software Benetton were using that year?
-
• #1516
Well they got caught in 1994 so i'm sure that they've learned quite a bit about how to control systems like that so that they don't crop up again, plus the Renault isn't really competitve enough that you'd suspect them of using it, and the Brawn isn't exactly way ahead of the field either.
ETA - It wasn't illegal to have TC on the car, it was illegal to use TC, so you could have it on the car, as long as it wasn't used. Mr Brawn at his usual finding loophole antics.

mmccarthy, thats pretty pathetic. Brawn won through genius and luck......and the generosity of Honda, actually coughing up £130million pounds in the deal....so that the outfit would at least last a season.
But to say that Brawn needs loopholes to win, is to ignore his genius. I'm not a fan of any team he has managed, or designed for, but he's a winner. Schumi was the first to recognise that. Give credit where credit is due man. Its decent, and its veddy Bridish.

• #1518
Huh? I have nothing against Brawn, actually out of all the people involved in F1 in the past 20 years he's definitely up there as one of my favourites, i'm kinda confused as to what is pathetic about what I said.
Also, if you think Honda gave away £130 million out of generosity, well, um, I don't really know what to say to that.
-
• #1519
Honda "gave" the money, so as not to "lose face". To quit F1 was one thing, but to abandon loyal staff would have damaged their caring company image in Japan. At least thats my belief.
-
• #1520
I doubt that they'd have given away any money, let alone that amount unless of course they were obligated to by a contract, i'd have more chance of believing it if the Honda name was in anyway involved in the Brawn team, which it wasn't.
But back to Brawn, genius, that's a word that gets thrown around a bit too often for my liking, he's great at his job, maybe the best in the buisness at the minute, luck, I guess that's a personal thing if you believe that or not. But the man is very well known for his ability to use the rulebook to his advantage, like he did with Option 13 back in his Benneton days, and like he did with the double diffuser this year.

If other people can't find an edge, and one person can, and its within the rules, then its very clever, is it not? Certainly cleverer than the others?
Maybe not genius then. We leave that for Sigmund Freud. -

Maybe not genius then. We leave that for Sigmund Freud.Definitely, like I said, he uses the rulebook to his advantage, as opposed to those who follow "the spirit of the rules", you seem to think that i'm not a fan of Ross Brawn but you couldn't be much more wrong.

I like being wrong. I find it very liberating.

From BBC website.
"Mercedes will buy a controlling interest in Brawn, believed to be 75%, but will continue has McLaren's engine partner until at least 2015.
BBC Sport understands Brawn will be rebranded as an official Mercedes, all-German F1 team.
Nico Rosberg will be their lead driver, with Nick Heidfeld his likely partner."
Button off to McLaren then.
