In the last 3 years i've lived in new cross, Elephant and now Brixton. I feel so much safer here than I did living in Leeds and Sheffield. Everybody thinks Brixton, Peckham etc are super fucking dangerous, I think the real problem with these areas is gangs on gangs. Sure you get a few people beggin for cigarettes or whatever, but if your not involved in the whole gang thing, i think SW/SE postcodes are pretty safe to live in.
I almost think that in SW/SE petty crime isn't that bad because people are to scared of the possible consequences i.e. shootings stabbings etc and therefore its a lot safer than people think. I feel way sfaer in Brixton, Peckham, Camberwell etc than I do when I'm out East.
