Check if your MP has signed up to stop boris closing HGV inspection unit

He's correct--EDMs are for 'ordinary' MPs to raise issues and ministers can't sign them. Still, as he says, he will follow it up, so it's very good that he's putting some political traction on it.
Same goes for Mr Clegg apparently (as a party leader), but the response said that the Lib Dems are supporting the EDM.

What that means in practice...?
