London to Bordeaux

So, me and my mate want to cycle from London to Bordeaux to raise money for a friend of ours who suffered an extremely unfortunate accident. We plan to ride at or around about the start of the summer so have started to plan now. Would anyone be able to give us some tips/link us to another site that may have information about cycling in France, how to plan + what to plan for and anything else that we may need.

If this is common question could you point me in the direction of an already answered thread, i UTFS but the only thing I could find was threads on Le Tour de France...

I recommend asking members George Sportif and Sorethroat who have recently embarked on a similar tour, also Donut! who has good knowledge of the Boredeaux area.
