  • They're functionally identical to the steel Ritchey Pro Micro which I use, aside from being double sided. Based on that, I'd say they're for weight weenies who don't mind that they're not as nice to use as Shimano 959/XTR SPDs. I'm pretty sure there's a bushing in there somewhere, rather than ball bearings throughout and I'm not convinced that the inboard seal is up to splashing around in the mud. So, it depends what you want them for. If I was racing off road, I'd use XTRs. If I wanted something for daily use, I'd probably get the Ritchey Comp V4, 1/4 of the price and with better bearings, or at least they'd be in the running alongside PD-M520/540. If I was building a show bike, I probably would get the Ti Ritcheys and accept the slightly diminished performance for the light weight and beauty.
