Should be an easy ride, through the foot tunnel (until they shut it to tart it up), up to limehouse (canary wharf - just follow everyone else), along cable street (i think that's the name) towards tower bridge road. From there I head into town (holborn) via high holborn, but you may want to do a right and go via old street. But there are so many variation once your in town you'll be spoilt for choice.

Oh and get some good locks.
www.tfl.gov.uk does routes for bikes (advanced search and only select bikes), that should give you the best way once your throught the foot tunnel (no cycling please!) and they have (or used to have) few maps that you could order with the cycle routes on, very handy and cheaper than an a-z

The Cycle maps are actually pretty good and can be picked up from 'travel centres' at Rail stations, Liverpool street underground station has a travel centre where i picked up a few. No 7. is a good one for covering from greenwich into central london.
you can also order them here
or check out what other peoples routes look like http://cyclemaps.tfl.gov.uk/ if you're inclined to be interested in that sort of thing.

Thanks everyone. I've ordered some guides.
is it a nicer ride to follow the river west on the south or the north side? or is there not much difference?

Personally I'd stay south of the river.
Greenwich -> Depford creak st -> Jamaica Rd ->Druid st ->left into snowfeilds-> keep going straight on (due to cycle lane contraflows) until-.> Blackfriars Bridge ->Farringdon Rd -> Kings cross

Yeah, what Tommy said. Much quicker South.

Whats a decent time for that to make it to kings cross for 8.30 without RLJ?

So is staying south a lot quicker? Been thinking I should try that route at some point and I guess I'll be forced to once the foot tunnel is closed.

Much faster.
In the time it takes to walk a bike through the foot tunnel I'd have made it to the Rotherhithe roundabout from Greenwich, just as an example.
HI, I'm moving to London and going to be staying in Greenwich for a bit but working in Kings Cross.
I've heard I might be able to cycle on some canal and through the Greenwich foot tunnel..
Any route suggestions for me? Your help is appreciated.
I found one cycle route planner but is the best way just to grab an A to Z and ride and ride?
Cheers
