I've just recieved a used Halo Aerorage Wheelset off eBay, and there appears to be a sort of silver ring on the cog threads, on the fixed side of the hub.
Can anyone tell me what this is, and what I might need to get it off ?

PS: I've tried searching, but have no idea exactly what I'm searching for...
