I agree with you. Learning to TIG is a very useful skill and no doubt produces a much stronger join. But it is damn hard and I fully respect those who can make those gorgeous crescent welds. Mine looked more like bird shit, though to be fair I've not done 20 hours and my experience has so far been with an old style mask which means I'm familiar with setting fire to my trousers and hair. In comparison MIG felt miles safer, easier and much more productive. And my MIG'd bikes are still holding together.
