You are trying to tighten the cog, right? From experience, unless you are really cautious with rotafix, chainwhip won t be more effcient than rotafix.
Have you tried tightening, riding a few hundred yards pushing hard on the pedals (without skidding at all), and then tighten the lockring again? Also, a cheap lockring will actually not do its job if its shoulder is too small, which will translate into slippage when you start spinning after a skid.
