Mate have you tried http://www.scrumpymacs.co.uk/BUY/Shop/ ?
Worth asking how much they'll give you. The guy will be v.interested in your RAM. Remember to barter!! They're nice guys and the service is quick. They paid me in cash too. That's a quality display you have there too!

is it me or is £1600 wildly optimistic ?
reason i say this is because i just built a far faster machine than yours for £800 just recently, for £1600 i could have gone much much further and invested in some SSD's and faster DDR3 memory.
call me a negative so and so who knows nothing if you want, but that's how i see it. -

ah, the old ' i can build a much faster PC for half the price' argument.
it's been a little while since i heard that one.

ah, the old ' i can build a much faster PC for half the price' argument.
it's been a little while since i heard that one.
it's 3 years old, so it's a guarantee that argument will win.

yeah, it's just great to hear it trotted out again like it's a new thing

my point is that for £1600 you could get a lot better.
nimbus, i've heard it a lot of times also, the fact is, buying yourself isn't that much cheaper than buying a ready built equivalent... that much is true.
but again , i wasn't exactly saying that, what i was doing however, was comparing my system to this one because it was convenient. that is all. nothing clever, something quite simple really. -

Dylan, have you ever used a Mac?
-
• #9
put a PC and a mac next to each other with similar or the same specs and run both for a year and lets see which one is still operating at a similar speed to how it started
-
• #10
I've worked in I.T all my life, I work with PCs and mainly MS servers and still come home to Macs!
-
• #11
exactly, people who bitch about macs have never used one, I used PC's for years then switched to a macbook from a 4gb ram home built PC and the macbook with 2gb ram was faster, smoother and operated better.

I'm rolling on a Macbook Pro 17 right now with the 1920x1200 display. Its lushious.

Ahh but you can't sit in bed with it on your lap. Well, you could, but that would be silly.

Get a quote on your mac at Mac2Sell.net.
Then you can add your monitor on top of that price. -

My dad has that one, have you seen the new 27 inch? drool
The new mouse also looks cool but bit pricey. -

Erm, I think $1600 is realistic considering the speccs, monitor and software.
Mac2sell dont take into account graphics cards and the hard drive option is broken.
Unless someone is willing to swap a unibody 15" macbook pro :p

Lol, maybe ebay would be a better idea after all...
I'm selling my 2006 Mac Pro, It's the 2.66 GHz quad (two dual cores) and has had numerous potent upgrades...
It has ten gigs of RAM, Nvidia 8800gt graphics card (512mb), one terrabyte boot drive (western digital caviar black) and a 750Gb second drive for all your porn (western digital green power).
I'll reformat the drives and install a fresh version of Snow Leopard and if you ask politely, it might even come with CS3.
It's all very clean and has been adored by me from day one but my work is more and more requiring a portable.
Apple protection plan just expired but I've never had to use it, this is some serious hardware people.
Now for the display -
Its an NEC Multisync 20WGX2. A 20.1 inch, 1680 by 1050 glossy wonder.
Extremely bright, fantastic S-IPS panel with glorious colour accuracy, viewing angles and an 8ms response time. Not to mention a 1000:1 contrast ratio in standard RGB mode and even higher at other settings.
The backlight is perfect, totally even lighting, unlike some apple displays.
I'm selling the lot for £1600
PM me with any questions...
